Emergency Department Nurse Expert

Since 2009 Kassandra has worked in a busy Ottawa area Emergency Department. In 2014 she started as a Team Leader, providing leadership support to the entire Emergency team. As a front-line leader her role includes, but is not limited to; serving as the main point of contact for front line clinical operations in the Emergency Department, being responsible for distribution of workload amongst all staff, prioritization of patients waiting to be seen, staffing, providing expert clinical support, collecting data regarding standards of care on the unit and coordinating follow-up of quality assurance measures for diagnostic and laboratory testing. She has also completed an Advanced Clinical Practice Nursing Fellowship related to care of the elderly in the Emergency Department. As a result of this fellowship, she became a published author, with an article published in the Journal of Emergency Nurses Association of Ontario and has spoken at several conferences including the National Emergency Nurses Affiliation Pan-American Conference. She also served as Clinical Informatics Coordinator in the planning and implementation of an electronic documentation and tracking system in the Emergency Department.
